West Liberty Economic Area Development (WE LEAD) Renovation

WE LEAD was looking to create a new headquarters and inspire the downtown community at the same time.  The owner faced an intense cost challenge with its original plans, but Woodruff aided with redesign and value engineering ideas to reduce initial estimates by nearly half to fit their budget.  The existing turn-of-the-century buildings were almost falling in but were renovated and combined to create new modern spaces. These included new offices, a kitchen, and learning classrooms on the main floor and three second-floor apartments.  The structural, mechanical, electrical, and aesthetic changes turned a run-down building into a sustainable model for other municipalities looking to revitalize their own downtowns.  The building now stands out as an example of what can happen with creative vision and good planning.
