The scope of this project included removing sludge and the old aeration system from one cell, dividing the cell into two, and adding a new backup generator, new blowers, new aeration system, a Lemna cover, a polishing reactor, new UV disinfection system and an outlet flume with a flow meter to measure how much clean water is leaving the system. This project was funded by the SRF federal grant program with the goal to bring the current treatment system into compliance with DNR regulations. It utilized American Iron and Steel and all local contractors. Once the new system was in place, the measurables the city needed to turn in to the DNR exceeded minimum levels for compliance, thus making the treatment system compliant with room for extra capacity.
