YSS Ember Recovery Campus

The new YSS Ember Recovery Center is a multi-building campus, thoughtfully designed to support a holistic approach to treatment and recovery. Its nature-based setting promotes mental well-being while providing a peaceful backdrop for the journey toward wellness. Centrally located, the campus offers convenient access to other community-based services and the YSS headquarters, reinforcing its integral role in the broader support network. As a safe and welcoming space, the campus enhances YSS’s successful wrap-around services. The shared spaces are specifically crafted to prioritize the unique needs of youth, ensuring a supportive and nurturing environment.

Woodruff was hired by YSS to provide Design-Build services, which included all architectural and engineering services provided by Woodruff’s sub-consultant RDG Planning & Design and CGA.  Preconstruction services included multiple progress estimates, constructability reviews, site logistics planning, bid package development, and the execution of a Guaranteed Maximum Price.

The project commenced before securing all necessary funding, allowing the owner to expand the scope, sometimes significantly, as additional funds were obtained through philanthropic donations or grants. The campus opened winter 2024.
